The Donkey Sanctuary A great day out for all the family located near Sidmouth. Admission is free, but donations will support the sanctuary's work. The donkeys are friendly and can be touched. There are also a number of walks that are clearly marked. One of these leads down to Branscombe beach where the cargo ship Napoli became stranded. The beach is very quiet (perhaps due to the steep path) and the path down has steps built to help with the steeper sections. Branscombe beach is shown below The Donkey Sanctuary

Teignmouth Teignmouth offers something for all the family. The walk along the sea wall takes you about a mile past Spray Point (where the Teignmouth sign is located) as far as Parsons Tunnel (main train line tunnel). The rock formation here is known as the 'Parson and Clerk' There are toilets at each end of the sea wall walk. The town is well worth a visit, as is the pier. The beach which runs along the sea wall is always popular. A more sheltered beach can be found in the harbour area (see large picture at the top of the page).

Killerton A National Trust house and garden with trails, a hill fort and a mythical dragon for the children and a quiz inside the house. It is 500 yards from Budlake Post Office (also National Trust), where adults and children are transported back in time to the days when sweets were sold by the ounce!(see below) Just up the road from Killerton is the Markers Cottage (also National Trust). This has a fascinating medieval interior wall painting (see below) Killerton and Budlake

Brixham Brixham is a very pretty fishing port which is well worth a visit. It is accessible by car but parking near the quay is often difficult at busy times. A great way to get there is the day trip from Exmouth by boat. The views of the coastline are stunning and the captain points out places of interest and wildlife along the way
